Together with the Mont de Lans glacier, it forms the largest ice cap in France (6 km from east to west). Its crevasses and seracs are within reach of almost all feet - provided you are accompanied and roped up. Go to the Lauze pass on the Girose glacier or to the Replat or Clot des Cavales passes and enjoy magnificent panoramas from Vercors to Mont Blanc, from Vanoise to Mont Thabor, pretty peaks as far as the eye can see and right next to the majestic Meije.
