Clearly visible from La Grave, the Râteau is the closest neighbor of Reine Meije. Its western ridge offers a very varied route between glacial approach, snow slope and rocky jumps that are increasingly aerial but never difficult (3+ max, good rock). It is an educational itinerary, which requires the rope party to combine a beautiful set of belaying techniques: the roping up specific to the glacial route on the Girose glacier then a progression by taut rope or by lengths in the final rocky part. . At the top, the view over the entire Ecrins massif, La Meije and the village of La Grave is simply unique. We then return to the cable car at the Col des Ruillans at 3,200 meters by the same route, combining abseils and easy descaling.
